Broward UP increases access to post-secondary education and training. This innovative community-centric approach is expanding ÐÓ°É's service model and strengthening partnerships to deliver workforce education courses and programs, along with career readiness and related support services, in areas most affected by economic immobility. These are the communities in which the greatest impact can be made.
As part of this community collaboration, the college is leveraging its assets and relationships to operationalize a bedrock ideal of ÐÓ°É's existence - every resident should be empowered and enabled to pursue post-secondary education.
This expanded service model focuses on Broward County zip codes with disproportionately high unemployment rates and low education attainment. Broward UP's work is focused on 11 zip codes, representing 15 of the 31 municipalities across the county.
AND OTHER SURROUNDING CITIES
A series of collaborations customized to the specific needs of each community has been established, as well as outreach efforts to overcome misconceptions around access and to align retention and support services.
Through Broward UP, barriers such as tuition, transportation, and technology are removed so residents of Broward UP Communities can access in-demand training leading to ÐÓ°É certificates and industry-recognized credentials in high-demand areas such as Process Improvement, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Information Technology, Health Care, and more. Through one-on-one coaching sessions, participants work with Broward UP Career Pathway Navigators to complete career assessments, educational plans, and goal-setting exercises, as well as a needs assessment to identify wrap-around services needed to promote student success. The support of our community, business partners, and volunteers makes it possible for ÐÓ°É to reach this goal. Broward UP is not a “program” or “initiative,” with a start and end date, but rather an expansion of the college’s service model, touching every division within the college. To operationalize this work, the BrowardUP Commission was formed to tap into faculty and staff expertise and provide opportunities to engage in Broward UP decision-making and implementation. The Broward UP Commission presently consists of 8 teams – led by employee volunteers – focusing on areas from business development to community engagement, social support services, technology, and more. It is through internal partnerships with employee volunteers, and innovative departments willing to expand beyond the traditional to realize the exceptional, that we have been able to operationalize our community partnerships.

Through Broward UP, ÐÓ°É provides workforce training and wrap-around support to residents of Broward UP Communities for free. This is only possible through the generous support of philanthropic organizations and individuals who, through their giving, have helped shape Broward UP programming and services.
The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation not only funds programming, outreach, and emergency student support, but their philanthropic giving also provided the resources to launch and sustain the Broward UP case management model.
With support from the Community Foundation of Broward, ÐÓ°É has developed the EMPLOYS career placement model.
A generous gift from Mackenzie Scott and Dan Jewett has allowed the College to create the Broward Educational Attainment (BEA) Fund that is building out the College's Employment Solutions Department, enhancing the Continuing Education (CE) to Degree Pathway, an innovative adult learner strategy, and will guarantee the current level of Broward UP programming and services remain in Broward UP Communities in perpetuity.
The Department of Education's Promise Neighborhoods grant will allow ÐÓ°É, and its community partners, to realize a true two-generational model by addressing residents' needs from "cradle to career" through a continuum of services from early childhood through job placement.
ÐÓ°É is thankful for these and all gifts that have afforded the opportunity to so many within our community.
